Welcoming 2022

With the new year brings new updates on the resort and boy, do we have a lot of them! Scroll through to see all that’s new in Twenty Twenty-Two. Alexa…play “Changes” by David Bowie.

Updates with our units…

The Lakeview overhaul continues! The end Lakeviews (4 & 5) are getting the same treatment as 2 and 3. That includes a new bathroom, ceiling, flooring, and the always desired air-conditioning! Lakeview 1 and the West Hills are also getting a facelift, and Silverwood’s bathroom is getting some love. We will share pictures on the blog as these changes around the resort continue to transpire.

Also…The Boathouse is back in action! Many of you may remember this Chimney Corners original. Jim’s sister Claudia has decided to rent out this unit again, and we are thrilled. Located on the beach and can sleep up to 8. It will rent Friday-Friday, to keep from slowing down our (already busy!) Saturday change overs.

Updates with our resort team…

After almost a decade as our operations manager, Lisa has transitioned to a new workplace. Thankfully, she isn’t too far away (just down to Stormcloud Brewery, maybe you’ve heard of it?) and won’t be a stranger around the resort. We are so grateful for everything she has done for Chimney Corners, and she will be missed!

Following Lisa’s change of careers, our new operations manager is Shelby. She may look familiar – she’s worked in the office taking reservations, answering phone calls, popping around for concierge, cleaning cottages, and even helping with renovations. Since moving back into town, she has taken Lisa’s old position and is excited for this new chapter at the resort.

Another change to our resort team is the addition of our new manager of guest services, Michelle! Michelle joined us by way of the Roadhouse (another local restaurant that perhaps you have heard of?). She was the bar manager there for many years and we are delighted to have her join us. Many of you have probably already worked with or spoken to Michelle this off-season.

Jim and Mary’s eldest son, Tristan, graduated from Ferris State at the end of 2021. While Tristan has always helped out around the resort, our favorite PGM post-grad is going to continue to ramp up his resort responsibilities with the guests and behind the scenes. Please feel free to pop by the office this summer and introduce (or re-introduce) yourself to our office team. We look forward to seeing you!

Updates with our neighbor…

Rocks Landing is undergoing some changes as well. A note from the owners:

Dear Neighbors – We hope the winter months have been kind and like us, you are looking forward to another great summer at CC and Rocks Landing in 2022. Rocks is entering its 5th year and we have been blessed with the support of the entire community. There are some exciting happenings at Rocks to report. If you’re in the area, you probably have seen the construction of the enclosure of the open deck.  It will match that of the existing covered porch and provide you with more certainty around your reservations without having to check the weather, and for us, will provide more predictable operations. Beyond that, we are thrilled to have new partners this year in two people that have been part of Rocks from day one, executive chef Joe Meyers and Front of the House Manager and lead server, Katie Dorsey. Both left full-time jobs to take a chance in our little outfit 5 years ago and we wouldn’t be where we are today without their dedication, talent and hard work. Also joining us in the ownership ranks is long-time friend Chris Bigelow, who will become our General Manager, responsible for all daily operations. We are thrilled to expand our ownership ranks with some members of our staff, and we look forward to their insights and contributions. Finally, pending health and regulatory considerations, we are happy to be bringing back Chimney Corners’ long-time tradition of the weekly BBQ at The Lodge. Steve and Kristin Tebo will again lead that effort, after two years of a forced shutdown due to Covid restrictions. We’ll open again in May so please check our website for announcements on dates. Thanks so much for your support and we look forward to seeing you this summer!
