What to Bring
What to BringWhile visiting with us there are many types of activities for you to enjoy. Please bring comfortable clothing and shoes to hike our bluff trails and the "not-to-be-missed" Sleeping Bear National Lakeshore dunes. Evenings may be cool around the lakeside firepit so be sure to bring a sweatshirt or fleece and your jeans. Beach towels are a "must pack" item as we do NOT provide them. Remember, all other linens are included in your accommodation. Chimney Corners has been decribed by the press as a "classic resort", this is the place where families reconnect after a busy year of school and work. Cottages and apartments are free of TV's, radios, and telephones. You're more than welcome to bring your own, but reception is less than desirable. There's a large, flat screen TV in the Beach Dining Room (the door is open 24 hours a day) for checking the weather report and catching important sporting events. Wi-Fi is available in the historic Lodge (you can receive the signal while sitting outside enjoying the view of Crystal Lake!) Do you own a ski boat? Hoists are $150 plus tax per week and will keep your boat safe and ready for your enjoyment. Be sure to reserve ahead. Kayaks, canoes, and small sail boats are welcome and don't need a hoist...just pull yours up on the shore by our shared dock. Lifejackets are found in the beach storage if you're planning to use one of the rowboats provided. Fishing is grand here...a license is required...toss in your tacklebox and pole. The single tennis court is across the road from the beach area...bring your racket and a few balls for a game. The highway between the resort and Frankfort has a bicycle lane. It's about seven miles to town, only three miles to Pt. Betsie Lighthouse, open for touring on weekends. Want a longer ride? Head into Frankfort and pick up the Betsie Valley Bike Trail (it's a 26 mile one-way ride to Thompsonville). If you haven't packed your camera, you might want to tuck it in. Birding is quite good on the resort property, binoculars are a must. Check out the www.visitbenzie.com link to view the golfing opportunities. Please remind us if you need a crib, highchair, or booster seat for your little ones, we'll place it the cottage for "your week". |
