Fishing

While visiting Michigan please note that a fishing license is required for adults. Visit the Tackle Box in downtown Frankfort for up-to-date fishing information.

Drop a line from one of our rowboat(life vest provided) on a calm morning or evening, close to shore....for pan fish and perch.

Otherwise, bring your own boat and motor or rent one from a nearby marina.

Lake Michigan Charter Fishing is always fun… the Frankfort Tackle Box offers trips as well as a full line of fishing tackle.

Coho salmon fishing starts mid-August in Lake Michigan and the fish run up the Betsie River and Platte River to spawn in September.

Canoeing

Canoe the Platte or Betsie Rivers. Riverside Canoes offer fast or family style river trips. Try tubing or kayaking and check out their well-stocked gift shop.

Watersports

Lake Michigan is a destination for competitive kite-boarding. Enjoy a visit to Broneah.

Frankfort Pier can offer great waves on a southwest wind. Surfing the Great Lakes has become a popular sport.
